This seems like an obvious assumption. But let’s take a closer look as the importance of breathing exercises that should help improve any exercise performance regardless if you are on land or in the water. Most of the time those new to exercise breath incorrectly. When they should be exhaling they’re inhaling and vice versa. Professional weightlifters know this otherwise they struggle. Yet to those who pump weight on a recreational level sometimes do not. It may not lead to injury but it will effect the quality of the workout. Singers learn the importance of breathing properly. Without it their voice runs out of gas so to speak. Stage performers are disciplined to control their breathing. It helps keep their energy levels up because the body’s demand for oxygen is raised and the body’s muscles demand it.

Athletes on all levels know how important and physically demanding breathing is to their workouts. It may be that single edge an athlete has over its competitor. Swimmers know that proper breathing helps them stay strong in the pool. They use repetitive actions honing their strokes. Nothing would tire out a swimmer more than taking unnecessary breaths or breathing incorrectly during the stroke. To do so tires the swimmer. Muscles become exhausted unable to stroke with speed and power. So if you want to improve performance make sure breathing training is in the picture.
