My wife had one idea and I had another and we looked high and low to find something that would work as a compromise. I don’t know about you, but this holiday season I’ve been searching for gifts that I can actually afford. How about some cool keychains? Everybody has to put their keys on something, and if you had a key chain that not only was attractive, but had some extra meaning for the person using it, all the better. I looked and looked, and got more and more bored, until I finally found a site with key rings in pewter that were awesome. When looking for post caps, don’t think you have to spend a lot of money to get something that is great to look at and easy to install. The fact is you can get something that looks fantastic at a very reasonable price. If you have a size that is common it’s really easy to find an inexpensive 4 x 4 post cap to work for a fence post or a deck post. Another common size is the 6 x 6 post cap but don’t feel like you can’t find what you want in other sizes as well because there are many affordable post caps that come in assorted sizes. (more…)

One of the most popular outdoor bonsai trees for Mother’s Day or any gift-giving holiday is the Japanese Hornbeam, or the carpinus japonica. It’s a wonderful outdoor bonsai that is one of the first to open up in the spring. When it does, this little tree grows small little fruits. These little fruits have a hint of red about them, and they will actually last all year around. In the winter, however, they change color, becoming a light brown. It also features some very interesting oval shaped leaves that stay bright green in the spring and summer, then turn a clear yellow color in the fall.
